De dienst ziekenhuishygiëne heeft als kernopdracht – conform het Koninklijk Besluit van 24 april 2007 – het voorkomen van zorginfecties die ontstaan tijdens of na een ziekenhuisverblijf.

Ter versterking van ons team zoeken wij een medisch staflid met een brede interesse in ziekenhuishygiëne, dat klinische expertise combineert met onderwijs, beleid en wetenschappelijk onderzoek.

How do you push boundaries?

Clinical Assignment

You monitor and optimize hospital hygiene across all clinical processes
You provide specialized services as part of a multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurse hospital hygienists, and laboratory technicians
You advise healthcare providers and hospital departments on infection prevention and control
Multidisciplinary collaboration and policy

You contribute to hospital-wide policies, guidelines, and procedures regarding infection prevention
You work closely with all medical disciplines and support services (including housekeeping and facilities management)
You report to the chief medical officer and work in coordination with the quality department
Consultation and Coordination

You actively participate in multidisciplinary meetings and coordinate projects within hospital hygiene
Regional and Community Role

You are actively involved in hospital hygiene at AZ Diest
You are willing to work outside the hospital and collaborate with regional partners
You provide expertise to federal and Flemish authorities through consultations and the development of guidelines and procedures
Educational responsibilities

You play an active role in teaching at KU Leuven, including ManaMa programs
You mentor students and medical specialists in training
You will participate in educational committees and contribute to curriculum development
Scientific Research

You will actively participate in clinical and academic research in the field of hospital hygiene
You will initiate and support research projects and publications
You will contribute to innovation and the international academic positioning of UZ Leuven
What qualifications do you need?

Degree as a medical specialist or pharmacist/clinical biologist recognized in Belgium
Doctorate (PhD) or in the final stages of completion
Demonstrable interest in hospital hygiene; experience is a plus
Preferably a master’s degree in hospital hygiene or a willingness to earn the ManaMa certification in hospital hygiene
Good knowledge of Dutch
Willingness to take on teaching assignments at KU Leuven
Strong communication skills and a distinctly team-oriented attitude
Competencies in leadership, coordination, and supervising staff
Positive attitude toward interdisciplinary collaboration
