Mission

Push the boundaries as an optometrist in the ophthalmology clinic

UZ Leuven currently has an opening for an optometrist in the ophthalmology clinic (Clinic 2). This clinic is located in the outpatient center on the Gasthuisberg campus.

This is a permanent position with an 80% work load.
How do you push boundaries?

You will work as an optometrist in the ophthalmology clinic, where you will perform specific technical examinations (perimetry, papillometry, OCT scans, and IOL Master examinations).
You will operate eye examination equipment and ensure its calibration and quality control.
You will perform preliminary examinations and refractions during various consultations.
You will handle patient check-in, prepare the patient optimally for the examination, and assess the patient’s specific needs based on the nature of the examination.
You are willing to undergo additional training related to medical-technical examinations and the various pathologies within ophthalmology.

Desired Qualifications

What do you need for this position?

You hold a degree in optometry recognized in Belgium.
You work well in a team of orthoptists, optometrists, and medical technicians.
You have good interpersonal skills and communicate effectively with colleagues, doctors, and patients.
You are computer literate and have a good knowledge of MS Office.
You have a very good command of Dutch and a solid basic knowledge of French and English.
You have experience with the Clinical Work Station (KWS) system or are willing to learn it.
You are a good team player and can handle stress well.
